On friday me and my girlfriend visited a crazy party of a collective called "Koloni". The party / concert was placed in a huge impressive cave called "Berg 211" close to hallplats "bellevue". This is a fantastic location for celebration. But also the concerts were really great. The first big act was "Love Is All" (Göteborg). After their great show the "Dirty Projectors" (New York, USA) entered the stage. Unexpected good. Last but not least "James Ausfahrt" a incredible crazy guy from Göteborg released his new album "party for the arty people - arty for the party people"

Nan Goldin Exhibition

I think a few of us have already visited the Hasselblad-Center in Göteborg. At the moment there is a really good exhibition about Nan Goldin an american photographer. The shown photographs are part of her most famous work "The Ballad of Sexual Dependency". The snapshot aesthetic images depict drug use, violent, aggressive couples and autobiographical moments. Most of her Ballad subjects were dead by the 1990s due to either drug overdoses or AIDS..." A really impressive exhibition, especially the slideshow (45min, 800 pictures)!

Punk and Pudding

On Wednesday the 24th (tomorrow 7pm) the Bezdomny-Art-Collective is celebrating another happening in a private flat. The topic of the evening should be "Punk and Pudding" - but I am not sure. I can`t find much information on the bezdomny website. "The event will take place at the writer Aleksander Motturi’s home at sveagatan 2c. The program including artists Maria Friberg and Maya Watanabe (Lima) that will relate to silence as an metaphor and the concept of silence as it is elaborated in Motturi’s latest book..."

Rocky Mountain High

Rocky-Mountain-High! I can`t stop promoting this place. This week I walked together with Daniel through this fantastic forrest close to Studiegången. If you want to see the outback of Sweden you have to go there before the weather is not that cozy anymore! You have to walk about 40min from Studiegången to the Delsjöområdets Naturreservat. Than you have to go to a lake called "Långevattnet" it is up on a Rocky Mountain! John Denver - Yeah....

Get The Dragon

Hidden sculpture

If you are interested in glass and art you sholud go and take a look at this sculpture directly behind the Göteborgs Operan, by the sea. I am not sure, but I am almost sure :), that the artist is Bertil Vallien, a famous swedish glass artist. Map!

Abandoned Places - Volvo holiday camp

One place we have to explore his the abandoned Volvo holiday camp on the Island "Trälen" near Kungälv, north of Gothenburg.
I havn`t been there jet but the magazin or better the guide "Monthl y" wrote an article about this place last month. Jan Jörnmark was the photographer. He is a specialist in abandoned places all over Europe. Get a Login at his website an visit the different places - it is interesting and for free!

Ok Nusa you are right. The next secret place: My girlfriend and me found these trolls at random in the forrest close to Studiegången. For all the others: Take bus number 17 from the centralstation and go to bushalplatsen Studiegången. Than walk through the forrest to direction antenna. Find the funky mountain trolls at the map!

BEZDOMNY - privat artperformance

BEZDOMNY - a great public but also privat art happening at the Jungmansgatan 55. Flexiphil and Nusa posted it at the blog yesterday. The artist group Bezdomny are: Magdalena Rapala, Stina Östberg, Staffan Hjalmarsson, Frida Yngström & Maria Karlsson, five artists who graduated from Valand School of Fine Arts. The local artist Katja Aglert was presenting her new video at the basement of the house. In the sauna was an installation with melting butter. The living room of one of the artists was used as an birthday party area with lots of creme pies. See also a small VIDEO of the "firework installation"! Nice to be there...

At -Barken Beatrices Gata- you see new architecture. Close to the new buildings is -Sannegårdshammen- with small boats. On the other side you find -Sörhallsberget- the other nature. Green, massive rock and an viewpoint over the Göta älv. map (but it isn´t build there :-))

Haunted by graffiti

During my walk through Göteborg I ran into some work by Ekta and Miss Lotion, members of Galleri ORO which "boskoop" wrote about. They were both somewhere in Andra and Fjärde Långgatan putting a colorful flair in the air.

As I went on towards Masthuggstorget I came across Kommers Loppmarknad, a flea market which is only open during weekends. The building is covered in graffiti so you can spend a lot of time only looking at the outside.

Last but not least I went to "the famous" Röda Sten which Maike posted about. There were some very nice graffiti on the Alvsborgsbron support pillars, on the lampposts, on trees and wherever it is possible to graff. Worth visiting!

A really good shop of design, arts and crafts material.
Located near Brunnsparken, (where the statue of a man in a horse is) it's very small and you have to go down stairs from the street to get inside. Have a look there! they've everything you need little artists!

Roda Sten- Rethinking Dissent

Maike posted about Roda Sten so i'll post about the Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art 2007.
it is an exhibition "on the limits of politics and the possibilities of resistance", and it is placed all over the city, in different museums and related places, but the biggest part is in Röda Sten.

the dates are from 25/8/2007 to 25/11/2007.

While Daniel and me were wolking through the harbour, we found this place. At first it didn't look really good but when we got inside it was really cool. Their job is make prototypes, mostly of cars, for different brands.

Summary of our meeting / Categories

Just to summarise our meeting at lunch: Our target group are foreign design students of the HDK. We decided to create cards - one for every sight / tip! You can collect them in a kind of "folder". To add or to remove tips to the folder should be easy...

We also dicussed different categories. Here they are:

- suburbs
- galleries
- local design offices / artists
- magazines / guides / links
- material stores / second hand stores
- inspiring places / places where you can calm down
- architectural interesting places

Lets discuss about the sence and there use. Nusa perhaps you can implement the categories in the blog - to see if they work.

Galleri ORO is placed in the Karl Johannsgatan 146. It is a bit outside. A small group of People work very enthusiastic to run this gallery. They are from Kopenhavn, London and Gothenburg and studied at the Royal Collage of Art in London. Everyone is welcome - the atmosphere is very warm and friendly. Magazine For Homeless People - FAKTUM

I pass this office (Stampgatan 50) every day when I go to the HDK. This place was always so messy but also magnetic that I wanted to know what is happening there. And wow - the 3 boys and 2 girls (a mixed group - photographer and grafic designer) make a magazine called "Faktum". They sell it for 20Krones to homeless people and they can sell it for 40Krones again. Anyway - a really professionell and well illustrated magazine for a good cause! Link: www.faktum.se
